Role Summary
As an Academic Counselor at upGrad, you will be responsible for driving learner enrollments and achieving revenue targets by managing the full sales lifecycle - from lead engagement to enrollment and post-sales relationship management.
In this role, you will act as a trusted advisor, helping working professionals identify the right learning path and demonstrating how upGrad's programs can accelerate their career growth.
The ideal candidate brings a hunter mindset, strong consultative selling skills, and deep experience in the education industry, with the ability to manage both B2C and B2C2B opportunities (individual learners and corporate-linked prospects).
Roles & Responsibilities
- Own and achieve weekly enrollment, revenue, and collection targets.
- Manage the complete sales lifecycle for assigned leads, including outreach, qualification, consultation, product demonstration, closing, and post-enrollment support.
- Engage with prospective learners through phone calls, email, and messaging platforms.
- Understand learners career goals, background, and motivations to recommend suitable upGrad programs.
- Provide clear guidance on program structure, admission requirements, learning experience, and career outcomes.
- Act as a career advisor and mentor, helping learners make informed education decisions.
- Maintain strong follow-up discipline to ensure high conversion rates and learner satisfaction.
- Identify and pursue B2C2B opportunities, including referrals, company-sponsored learners, and corporate learning interest.
- Collaborate with Marketing, Operations, and Admissions teams to ensure a seamless enrollment journey.
- Maintain accurate tracking of leads, conversations, and pipeline progress through CRM systems.
Skills & Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of experience in the education industry, preferably in EdTech or higher education sales.
- Proven experience in telesales, consultative sales, or enrollment counseling.
- Strong hunter mindset, proactive in identifying opportunities and driving conversions.
- Ability to handle B2C and B2C2B sales environments.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong consultative selling approach with empathy toward learner needs.
- Proficiency in CRM tools and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Results-oriented with the ability to work under revenue targets and fast-paced environments.
Employment Type: Full-time.
Working Hours: 9 AM - 6 PM (Monday - Friday).
