Job Description

Goal of position

We are seeking a highly technical EDI Systems Administrator to lead our transition from SellerCloud to an on-premise ProEDI environment. This role is responsible for the end-to-end lifecycle of our electronic data interchange, from server configuration and mapping to trading partner onboarding. Beyond EDI, this individual will serve as a key member of the IT team, assisting with database management and internal systems integration.

Tasks (Description of main tasks)

System Migration

-       Execute the decommissioning of SellerCloud EDI and the full implementation of ProEDI on local Windows/SQL servers.

-       Configure and maintain the ProEDI Scheduler and associated Windows services for reliable, unattended transaction processing.

-       Develop PowerShell and BAT scripts to automate scheduled workflows and ensure consistent, hands-free operation.

Mapping & Development

-       Design, build, and test EDI maps (850, 855, 856, 810, 214, etc.) to ensure seamless data flow between trading partners and internal systems.

-       Conduct gap analysis between trading partner implementation guides and internal ERP data models, producing clear remediation plans.

-       Implement SSCC-18 barcode generation and hierarchical shipment labeling structures to meet retail compliance requirements.

-       Connectivity Management

-       Configure and maintain AS2 (using certificates), SFTP, and VAN communication protocols.

-       Manage AS2 connections including digital certificate lifecycle, AES-256 encryption, SHA-256 message signing, and Synchronous MDN handling.

-       Administer SFTP and FTP channels for internal file movement and partners that do not support direct AS2.

Trading Partner Onboarding

-       Manage the technical relationship with retailers, distributors, and 3PLs, including full-cycle testing in sandbox environments.

-       Ensure strict adherence to each trading partner's routing guide, compliance standards, and lead-time requirements to avoid chargebacks and fines.

-       Monitor 997 Functional Acknowledgments and 864 Text Messages to detect and resolve syntax errors and business-level rejections.

-       Troubleshooting

-       Monitor the ProEDI Scheduler and error logs daily to resolve transmission failures or data validation errors.

-       Serve as the primary escalation point for EDI-related issues, coordinating with trading partners and internal teams to ensure rapid resolution.

-       Maintain high daily completion rates for EDI tracking propagation across all active partner channels

IT Value-Add Responsibilities

-       Database Admin: Maintain the SQL database backend for ProEDI; write stored procedures and views to clean or transform data.

-       Systems Integration: Work with the IT team to integrate EDI data with our ERP/WMS, eliminating manual data entry.

-       Reporting & Analytics: Develop custom dashboards (e.g., Power BI) to visualize supply chain performance and vendor compliance.

-       Network Security: Manage SSL certificates and ensure the EDI server adheres to corporate security and backup policies.

-       Documentation: Maintain comprehensive technical documentation for all maps, connection profiles, trading partner configurations, and operational procedures.

Formal prerequisites for the position (e.g. training, experience, education etc.)

Experience

-       3+ years of experience in EDI administration (experience with ProEDI or similar on-prem translators like Gentran or Sterling is highly preferred).
