At Holiday Inn Resort Ba Na Hills, we are committed to providing a safe, comfortable, and memorable experience for every guest. As a Duty Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient operation, maintenance, and reliability of the hotel's engineering systems and facilities.
As part of the pre-opening team, you will support the commissioning of building systems, establish preventive maintenance programs, and help create a safe and well-maintained environment for guests and colleagues from day one.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering Operations
- Supervise the daily operation of the Engineering department during assigned shifts.
- Monitor the performance of all mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP), HVAC, kitchen, laundry, and life safety systems.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and equipment breakdowns to minimize operational disruption.
- Ensure all engineering work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with hotel standards.
Preventive & Corrective Maintenance
- Carry out preventive maintenance schedules for guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house facilities, and plant equipment.
- Troubleshoot and repair faults in electrical, plumbing, air conditioning, refrigeration, and mechanical systems.
- Monitor maintenance records and ensure work orders are completed accurately and on time.
- Recommend improvements to enhance equipment reliability and operational efficiency.
Guest & Colleague Support
- Respond professionally and promptly to guest maintenance requests.
- Coordinate with Housekeeping, Front Office, Security, and other departments to ensure timely resolution of maintenance issues.
- Ensure guest comfort is maintained by minimizing disruptions during maintenance activities.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with IHG engineering standards, local building regulations, fire and life safety requirements, and environmental policies.
- Conduct routine inspections of engineering plant rooms, equipment, and hotel facilities.
- Maintain safe working practices and ensure proper use of tools, equipment, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Support emergency response procedures and participate in fire drills and safety inspections.
Team Leadership
- Supervise and guide Engineering Technicians during assigned shifts.
- Provide coaching and on-the-job training to develop technical competencies.
- Promote teamwork, accountability, and a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
Pre-opening Responsibilities
- Support the installation, testing, commissioning, and handover of all hotel engineering systems.
- Participate in defect inspections with contractors and consultants.
- Assist in developing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), preventive maintenance schedules, and asset registers.
- Support trial operations and ensure engineering readiness before hotel opening.
What We Are Looking For
- Diploma or Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Building Services Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum 3–5 years of engineering experience in an international hotel, resort, or large commercial facility.
- Previous supervisory experience is preferred.
- Pre-opening experience is an advantage.
- Strong technical knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire & life safety systems, and general building maintenance.
- Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and make sound decisions during emergencies.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Willingness to work rotating shifts, weekends, public holidays, and be on-call when required.
