Molex is expanding its Vietnam footprint with a
new high‑tech facility in Hung Yen (Thang Long Industrial Park II) to produce
high‑speed connectors, cables, and optical devices, supported by significant new investment and large‑scale automation. The Vietnam expansion features
advanced robotics, high‑speed injection molding, stamping, plating, and automated assembly, reflecting a step‑change in digital/automation maturity across the Asia manufacturing network. Public sources reference
investment ranging from :$128M to $145M for the Hung Yen build‑out and its 100,000 m² footprint.
Job Summary
Digital Manufacturing Lead leads
IT and OT strategy, cybersecurity, infrastructure, and digital transformation for Molex's
Hung Yen advanced manufacturing site. While owning the site‑level technology strategy, the role works in close coordination with site leaders and ensures full alignment with Molex's global technology direction. It drives the performance, security, and scalability of
automation‑intensive production (robotics, molding, stamping, plating, optical manufacturing) and enterprise platforms (ERP/MES/SCADA, data & analytics), aligned to Molex's global technology direction.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategy & Alignment
- Serve as a trusted technology partner to Plant Leadership, Operations, Engineering, Quality, and Maintenance teams and help to align site requests with regional priorities and available corporate solutions.
- Align technology roadmaps with site operations, engineering, quality, and supply chain to achieve throughput, quality, and cost targets.
- Translate manufacturing needs into actionable digital requirements, working with corporate IT, automation teams, and vendors to deliver solutions that improve reliability, visibility, and scalability.
- IT/OT Infrastructure & Operations
- Assure secure, reliable connectivity for automation, robotics, stamping, plating, and assembly equipment.
- Cybersecurity & Risk Management
- Partner with the cybersecurity team to implement defense‑in‑depth across IT/OT environments, including segmentation, endpoint protection, vulnerability and risk management, and incident response
- Safeguard product/process IP and supplier data; maintain disaster recovery and business continuity.
- Digital Transformation & Analytics
- Lead smart‑factory initiatives (IIoT connectivity, real‑time dashboards, SPC, predictive maintenance, AI/analytics) to improve OEE, yield, and traceability.
- Partner with global digital teams to standardize platforms and accelerate replication across Asia sites.
- New Facility / Line Ramp‑Up
- Govern digital readiness for new equipment introduction, line commissioning, and ECN controls; ensure MES/SCADA integrations and data models are production‑ready for mass ramp.
- Vendor & Budget Management
- Manage site IT/OT budgets, and coordinate vendor sourcing and management (infrastructure, MES/SCADA, cybersecurity, industrial software & services) in close partnership with Molex Procurement.
- People Leadership & Ways of Working
- Build and coach a high‑performing IT/OT team (network/infra, apps/MES, cybersecurity, data/analytics, OT/automation interfaces).
- Embed strong stakeholder management, change leadership, and a safety‑first, quality‑first culture.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, Electrical/Automation/Industrial Engineering, or related field.
- 8+ years of IT leadership in manufacturing—electronics/optics/automation preferred; experience with new plant build‑out and ramp strongly valued.
Technical Skills
- Enterprise IT (networks, cloud/on‑prem, identity, endpoint), OT (PLC/SCADA/MES), data platforms/ETL; cybersecurity for IT/OT.
- Exposure to robotics, alignment/vision, AOI, metrology, and integration of precision equipment into MES/SCADA/data lakes.
Leadership & Soft Skills
- Strategy execution, stakeholder management (plant, regional, global), communication, vendor negotiation, and change leadership in high‑growth environments.
Working Relationships
- Site: Operations, Engineering/Automation, Quality, Supply Chain, EHS, Finance
- Regional/Global: Enterprise IT, Cybersecurity, Digital/Analytics, Architecture, Compliance
Travel / Language
- Occasional regional/international travel for IT meeting joining vendor engagement and best‑practice sharing.
- Vietnamese, English required, Chinese as a plus.
