Data Engineer Intern (allowance 5mil)

Gene Solutions is a genomics and molecular diagnostics company building data-driven products for early cancer detection and treatment monitoring, including our K-Track / MRD (Minimal Residual Disease) liquid biopsy testing platform used across multiple markets in Southeast Asia. Behind every test result is a pipeline of bioinformatics processing, clinical data integration, and reporting infrastructure that our Data team designs, builds, and operates.

About the Role

We're looking for a Data Engineer Intern to join our Data team and help modernize the infrastructure behind our genomic data pipelines — from deploying pipeline versions and organizing datasets currently scattered across storage systems, to laying the groundwork for a proper Data Warehouse and supporting deployment of our AI/Analytics applications. You'll work directly alongside experienced Data Engineers, starting with well-scoped foundational tasks and growing into larger initiatives as you build confidence — in an environment where your work directly supports real clinical products.

You will learn:

• Participate in building and operating data pipelines (ETL/ELT).
• Support data integration from various sources (Databases, APIs, etc.).
• Practice cleaning, processing, and transforming large-scale datasets.
• Assist in database management across SQL and NoSQL systems.
• Explore and apply automation and orchestration tools (e.g., Apache Airflow).
• Collaborate with Data Scientists and AI Engineers on advanced AI/Analytics projects.

Your qualifications:

Must Have:

• 3rd/4th-year students or recent graduates in Computer Science, Data Science, Software Engineering, or related technical fields.
• Solid foundational knowledge in Python, SQL, and database concepts.
• Practical experience from academic coursework or personal projects involving data processing or software development.
• Strong logical thinking, enthusiasm for learning, and effective teamwork skills.
• Good English reading comprehension (required for reading technical documentation).
• Available to work on-site at Gene Solutions (Ho Chi Minh city office) for at least 2 days per week.

Nice to Have (Plus):

• Familiarity with or interest in Cloud platforms (AWS).
• Knowledge of Data Warehousing concepts, Apache Spark, or Hadoop.
• Hands-on experience with Airflow, or workflow automation tools.

Internship duration: 6 months, to be finalized through discussion.

Allowance: 5 million VND /month
