About the Job

We're looking for an experienced Country Merchandising Manager to lead merchandising strategy and category growth for one of Southeast Asia's fastest-growing value retailers.

This role will be responsible for developing localized product assortments, pricing strategies, supplier partnerships, inventory planning, and merchandising execution across the local market. Working closely with regional teams, you will ensure the product offering meets customer needs while driving sales, profitability, and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

Merchandising Strategy & Assortment

  • Develop country-specific merchandising strategies aligned with local consumer demand and regional business objectives.
  • Build category assortments, pricing architecture, and SKU strategies tailored to different regions within the country.
  • Manage Open-to-Buy (OTB), seasonal planning, product launches, and product lifecycle management.

Pricing & Category Performance

  • Develop pricing strategies and promotional plans to achieve sales and gross margin targets.
  • Monitor competitor pricing, private label strategies, and promotional activities.
  • Drive markdown and clearance initiatives to improve inventory health.

Inventory & Supply Chain

  • Manage inventory allocation, replenishment, and stock availability across the retail network.
  • Monitor sell-through, inventory turnover, stock, and shrinkage.
  • Work closely with Supply Chain and Logistics teams to optimize product availability.

Supplier Management

  • Source and develop relationships with local and international suppliers.
  • Negotiate pricing, payment terms, lead times, quality standards, and commercial agreements.
  • Collaborate with regional buying teams on sourcing initiatives.

Store Merchandising

  • Develop and implement planograms and merchandising standards.
  • Support store teams with merchandising execution and compliance.
  • Partner with Marketing on seasonal campaigns and promotional displays.

Business Analysis

  • Analyze sales, margin, inventory performance, and forecasting accuracy.
  • Deliver actionable insights to improve category performance and profitability.
  • Prepare regular reports for regional leadership.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Retail, Marketing, Supply Chain, or related disciplines.
  • 7-10 years of retail merchandising experience.
  • At least 3-5 years as a Merchandising Manager or equivalent leadership role.
  • Strong experience in value retail, FMCG, supermarkets, convenience stores, or modern trade.
  • Proven experience managing multi-store merchandising operations.
  • Strong commercial acumen with experience in assortment planning, pricing, and supplier negotiations.
  • Experience using ERP systems such as SAP, Navision, Oracle, or similar platforms.
  • Advanced Excel and data analysis skills.
  • Fluent English communication.
