The Costing Specialist analyzes and control product price. Responsible for creating in-house BOM's of new products from development process for Design and PLM team refer and make sure to get best price from T1 and T2 suppliers.
Costing Specialist works with Designer, PLM, Developer, Materials, and Sample Room Team for material price, saving cost and digital pattern.
Principal Duties And Responsibilities
In House Costing Exercise (60%)
- Create in house BOM's by Smartsheet to provide the status of milestones pricing (LR0, LR1, LR2 and DDPR3) for Designer and PLM's Team.
- Using the Cad software (patterning and marker) to nest material as the most efficient way to calculate the consumption usage.
- Works with costing, designer, sample room, PLM team for costing saving and Blue Sign Material each milestone pricing to fit with the target budget.
- Negotiation price, MOQ and lead time for new material with T2 suppliers.
- Calculate fabric and accessory percentage for new and redesign products from BOM's.
- Summary Blue Sign Product status from each round of costing.
- Update the master FOBs of each milestone price.
- Update new materials to the master material database.
- Work with the Process Engineer to improve the process and labor cost for next round costing.
Analysis and negotiation price with factories. (40%)
- Follow up the Costing Exercise with T1 suppliers from counter to Buy Ready stage.
- Double check raw material consumption to make sure there is no big gap and no losing.
- Double check raw material price which Osprey nominated raw material suppliers.
- Study and analyze the layout and labor cost from T1 suppliers with the Process Engineer.
- Ensures factories BOM's is matching and follow Osprey formula.
- Study and analyze Blue Sign percentage.
- Meeting with T2 to conduct the raw material cost.
- Meeting with T1 to conduct the FOBs for new and redesign products.
- Minimize FOB increase for carry over styles.
Communicate Digital Pattern.
- Using the Cad Software to communicate digital patterns with Osprey's Pattern Markers.
- Using the Cad Software to communicate digital patterns with T1 factories.
- Generate a backed-up library of Osprey patterns.
- Up to date the latest pattern from T1 factories.
- Working with pattern markers to improve pattern system.
- Provide digital patterns for graphic designers to make artwork.
Raw Material Price, MOQ and Lead Time discussion.
- Build database of annual material consumption.
- Negotiate prices with T2 raw material suppliers for new materials.
- Negotiate MOQ with T2 raw material suppliers for new materials.
- Negotiate Lead Time with T2 raw material suppliers for new materials.
- Negotiate prices with T2 raw material suppliers for carry over material by annual season.
- Up to date the Blue Sign Material.
General
- Update the seasonal FOBs to Osprey Head Quarter.
- Allocation price if needed.
AUTHORITY& WORKING RELATIONSHIPS
Regular contact with Osprey Team Members and T1 & T2 Suppliers.
Qualifications
- Education, experience, and aptitude to meet position requirements.
- Good Excel and Cad Software skills.
- A trustworthy, clear communicator with excellent English Language abilities and a reliable confidentiality record.
- Years of related professional experience: 3-5.
- Experience on costing of bag or footwear or garment industry is preferable.
- College Degree preferred and relevant experience.
- Prior experience in International Companies a distinct advantage.
Compensation And Benefits
Compensation: Salary dependent on experience and qualifications
Paid Time Off (PTO): 15 days, plus 11 Holidays
Benefits: Comprehensive Benefits Package. Lunch is provided 5 days a week.
Required Meetings And Time/Travel
- Participation in all department and general company meetings/functions, and others relating to special assignments, as required.
- May be required to work outside of normal work hours or attend offsite training/business functions.
