Job Description

Cost Estimate Expert (Vietnamese)

Position : Cost Estimate Expert – Rail Design Project

Location : Vietnam - HCMC

Language : Fluent in English

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Prepare and update project cost estimates for civil works, stations, depot, systems and other relevant project components.
  • Develop cost estimates based on drawings, quantities, technical specifications, design information and applicable project assumptions.
  • Review quantities and cost inputs provided by the different engineering disciplines and identify inconsistencies or missing items.
  • Coordinate with discipline leaders and technical teams to ensure that the cost estimate reflects the latest design development.
  • Develop and maintain the project Bill of Quantities and cost breakdown structure as required.
  • Prepare unit rates and benchmark costs using appropriate local and international references.
  • Identify major cost drivers, uncertainties, exclusions and assumptions and clearly document them.
  • Perform cost comparisons between design options and support value engineering exercises when required.
  • Monitor changes in design and assess their potential impact on the project cost.
  • Prepare cost estimate reports and cost summaries for review by the Project Director and Client.
  • Support the preparation of tender documentation and commercial/technical cost information where required.
  • Ensure traceability, consistency and quality of cost information throughout the different project stages.

Key Requirements

  • Strong experience in cost estimation for rail, metro or major infrastructure projects.
  • Good knowledge of civil works, stations, depot and/or railway systems cost structures.
  • Experience in preparing Bills of Quantities, quantity take-offs and unit rate build-ups.
  • Ability to review technical documents and translate design information into reliable cost estimates.
  • Good understanding of cost databases, market rates and benchmarking methodologies.
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills, with good attention to detail.
  • Good knowledge of Excel and relevant cost estimating tools.
  • Excellent command of spoken and written English.
  • Previous experience on metro projects financed by international funding agencies is an advantage.
