Apple is seeking a Component Quality Engineer with a strong background in Electrical Component Manufacturing, Process Quality Control and Failure Analysis. Description

A successful Component Quality Engineer is technical, driven, organized, detail oriented, adept at driving actions and resolving conflicts; and communicates with ease at all levels.

Responsibilities
  • In this role your lead responsibilities will include:
  • Supplier facility auditing. Full audit reporting, communication with Suppliers and Apple management and follow up to close all issues;
  • Monitor the component performance at contract manufacturing sites, drive and track closure on any component level issues that impact overall product readiness or DPPM fluctuations; Participate in Factory & Field Failure Analysis efforts and DPPM reduction.
  • Lead and track component failure analysis closure with vendors, 8D based improvements based on lessons learned and communicate timely with internal teams;
  • Lead Root Cause & Corrective Actions on electronic components during development builds and production ramp across all Apple products
  • Drive key initiatives which improve future designs, including vendor to vendor component benchmarking comparisons, board validation, stress testing, and user impact correlations
  • Provide quality team approval risk for MP releases and ensure team drives quality requirements for any post-ramp qualification
  • Commitment and ability to work under high pressure, with proficiency in summarizing technical data for an executive audience to drive high impact decisions
Minimum Qualifications

  • 5+ years of industry experience in one or more of the following disciplines: Electrical component Design, Manufacturing, Testing, Quality and Reliability, with a track record of IC component or passive component manufacturing process, product development & validation, wafer fab and backend assembly process operations is strongly preferred
  • Proven proficiency in failure analysis methodologies (e.g., cross-sectional analysis, SEM/EDX, X-Ray, FTIR) and problem-solving frameworks like 8D and SPC
  • Strong technical skills, involving problem solving and issue root causing in a pressured environment
  • Strong quality knowledge in product development and manufacturing environment.
  • Interpersonal skills of leadership, project management, communication, teamwork, influencing and negotiation.
  • Good teamwork with constant interfacing with multiple functional teams across Apple and suppliers
  • BS/MS/PhD Electrical or Chemical or material engineering Engineering
  • English - Excellent in reading, writing & speaking

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands on experience on full lifecycle quality management of IC components (SoC, Memory, ASICs, Power ICs) and Passive components (Capacitor, Magnetics, Resistors, Crystals, etc..)
  • Circuit design knowledge - understanding of components used in both digital and analog power design
  • Familiarity in system manufacturing, PCBA SMT process, and transitioning new products into high volume manufacturing
  • Ability to craft and deliver presentations tailored to executive audiences
  • Knowledge of IC component and circuit failure analysis with their respective methodologies
  • Flexibility on travel. Experience working with off-shore electronic manufacturing sites to perform process and quality audits
  • Able to communicate with mandarin will be an advantage
