Experience
* Minimum 7 years, preferably 10 years or more, of precision machining experience, including CNC multi-axis programming and operation supervision.
* Demonstrated reverse engineering experience using 3D scanning and precision metrology to produce manufacturing drawings is an advantage.
* Hands-on experience with first-article inspection and CMM/3D measurement reporting is an advantage.
* Practical experience in establishing, developing or upgrading a precision machining workshop or CNC facility, including machine tool selection, technical specification, foundation/layout planning and acceptance testing is an advantage.
* Proven experience machining components for rotating or process equipment, such as shafts, sleeves, impellers, wear parts, valve internals or similar components, is an advantage.
* Experience with Non-OEM / alternative part qualification processes for oil and gas or power clients is preferred.
* Familiarity with five-axis post-processor development and advanced CAM strategies is preferred.
* Exposure to additive manufacturing or laser cladding post-machining as a repair route is preferred.
Technical Expertise
* In-depth command of the end-to-end reverse engineering and manufacturing process, including sample part survey, dimensional measurement, 3D scanning, model reconstruction, manufacturing drawing preparation, material selection, tolerance definition, machining process planning, CAD/CAM programming, CNC machining, dimensional inspection and completion of manufacturing dossiers for OEM and Non-OEM parts.
* CNC turning, milling, five-axis and multi-tasking machining; wire-cut EDM; cylindrical grinding; vertical turning.
* CAD/CAM proficiency, including 3D modelling, CAM programming, post-processing, tooling, fixturing and cutting-parameter optimisation.
* GD&T and tolerance stack-up analysis; limits and fits for rotating and static equipment components.
* Metrology: CMM programming/operation, 3D scanning, surface finish and hardness measurement; measurement uncertainty awareness.
* Engineering materials, including alloy steels, stainless steels, nickel/copper alloys and hard-coated surfaces, together with heat-treatment fundamentals and machinability of coated and hardened components.
* Selection and evaluation of machine tools and metrology equipment, including geometric accuracy acceptance, and machining workshop layout/workflow design.
* Non-OEM part development practice: design basis capture, material equivalency assessment, manufacturing route definition, verification testing and traceability.
* QA/QC documentation for manufacturing: first-article inspection, dimensional reports and technical dossiers, with full record traceability.
* HSE requirements for machine shop operations.
Language Proficiency
* Fluent English, spoken and written, for technical documentation and supplier/OEM communication – required.
Software Proficiency
* Proficient in MS Office and CAD/CAM software.
* Familiarity with CMM software and production planning tools is an advantage.

Other Requirements
* Employment type: full-time employment or fixed-term expert engagement, depending on the candidate profile and agreement with the company.

* Willingness to travel domestically and internationally for vendor visits, FAT witnessing, training and client support.
* The role covers both the workshop capability establishment period (2026–2028, with the machining workshop targeted for operation from mid-2027) and long-term workshop operation as a specialist of the O&M Department.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Overall
*The CNC Machining and Reverse Engineering Expert is a specialist position within the O&M Department of the company (provider of technical services for the oil & gas and energy industries, with extensive expertise in offshore projects, O&M, EPCIC, marine services, and renewable energy). The expert is the technical authority for the company's precision manufacturing services, delivered through the Precision Machining and Reverse Engineering Workshop.
*The workshop manufactures new components and restores existing OEM/Non-OEM components in support of rotating equipment, electric motor and generator, static equipment and valve, and surface restoration services.
*The workshop operates CNC turning and milling, five-axis machining, multi-tasking machines, wire-cut EDM, CNC cylindrical grinding, vertical turning, heat treatment (annealing furnace), and 3D scanning/coordinate measurement capabilities.
1. Workshop Capability Establishment
* Define workshop processes.
* Specify and select machine tools and metrology equipment.
* Review foundations and workshop layout.
* Support procurement, FAT/SAT, geometric acceptance and commissioning.
* Establish CAD/CAM, metrology and quality documentation systems.
2. Workshop Operation
* Lead reverse engineering and precision manufacturing.
* Prepare Non-OEM part development proposals with material equivalency assessments and manufacturing drawings.
* Ensure dimensional quality through first-article inspection and final measurement reporting.
Workshop Capability Establishment
* Assess the company's precision machining and reverse engineering service capability requirements and define the required workshop processes and functional zoning.
* Prepare and review machinery, equipment, tools and measuring equipment lists, including CNC lathes and milling machines, five-axis machining centres, multi-tasking machines, wire-cut EDM, CNC cylindrical grinders, vertical CNC lathes, conventional machines, hydraulic presses, annealing furnaces, 3D scanners and coordinate measuring equipment.
* Develop or review technical specifications and equipment data sheets, including geometric accuracy requirements.
* Review machine capacity, envelope, accuracy class, operating range, maintainability, safety and compatibility with intended component families.
* Participate in vendor clarifications, technical bid evaluations and technical recommendations for machine tool suppliers.
* Review workshop layout to ensure a safe, logical and efficient machining workflow.
* Identify requirements for machine foundations, vibration isolation, power supply quality, compressed air, ventilation, coolant and chip handling, lifting systems and material handling.
* Participate in design reviews, FAT, SAT, installation supervision, geometric acceptance testing, commissioning and final acceptance of machine tools and metrology equipment.
* Support preparation of operating procedures, preventive maintenance plans and competency requirements for machine tools and measuring equipment.
* Establish the workshop working system, including CAD/CAM standards, programming and tooling libraries, fixture concepts, metrology procedures, first-article inspection processes, documentation templates and traceability/configuration control rules.
* Deliver technical training and knowledge transfer to company personnel.
Workshop Operation – Machining and Reverse Engineering Services
* Lead reverse engineering of components through sample part survey, dimensional measurement, 3D scanning, model reconstruction, manufacturing drawing preparation, material selection and tolerance definition for OEM and Non-OEM parts.
* Apply GD&T and tolerance stack-up analysis; verify fit, form and function of manufactured components against mating assembly requirements.
* Assess material identification and material equivalency; define manufacturing routes, including machining sequence, heat treatment and interfaces with other workshops.
* Propose material substitutions for approval by the authorised level of the company.
* Develop, review and continuously improve machining process plans and work instructions.
* Define inspection points, hold points and acceptance criteria for manufactured and restored components.
* Determine repair-versus-replace and manufacturability solutions for repair scopes raised by other workshops.
* Define required manpower, machines, tooling, measuring instruments, consumables and estimated execution durations.
* Plan and supervise CNC turning, milling, five-axis machining, multi-tasking operations, wire-cut EDM, cylindrical grinding and vertical turning.
* Set CAM programming, tooling, fixturing and cutting-parameter standards.
* Direct first-article inspection, CMM/3D measurement and final dimensional reporting.
* Control dimensional inspection, machining quality and finishing requirements.
* Prepare Non-OEM part development dossiers, including design basis, material selection, manufacturing route, inspection and test results, and traceability.
* Submit Non-OEM part development dossiers for company approval and maintain configuration control of approved part definitions.
* Plan workshop workload, capacity and subcontracting interfaces.
* Maintain tooling libraries and the calibration status of measuring equipment.
* Review and approve, within the assigned authority, technical reports and manufacturing dossiers.
* Ensure traceability of measurement, machining, inspection and acceptance records.
* Ensure compliance with applicable client requirements, OEM recommendations, company procedures, quality requirements and HSE requirements for machine shop operations.
