Job Description: Cloud Network Engineer
JOB DUTIES
- Design, implement, and manage complex network topologies and cloud-based solutions using IaC methodologies.
- Collaborate with cloud architects to develop high-availability network architectures, including hybrid connectivity and cross-region peering.
- Ensure the reliability, security, and efficiency of virtual appliances, firewalls, and core network infrastructures.
- Continuously evaluate and integrate new software-defined networking (SDN) technologies and methodologies.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to team members on network routing and connectivity best practices.
- Design and manage Azure Landing Zone (ALZ) network architectures aligned with CAF best practices.
- Build and operate multi-subscription hub-and-spoke networking (management, connectivity, workload subscriptions).
- Deliver cross-subscription and cross-region connectivity, including shared services networks
- Design and manage AKS networking, including: AKS VNET integration and subnet planning, Azure CNI / CNI Overlay selection, Ingress and egress traffic control, Private AKS cluster networking.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications
- Minimum 4 years of experience in Azure cloud platform engineering with a focus on network delivery.
- Proven expertise in enterprise-scale networking (e.g., Hub-and-Spoke, Azure Virtual WAN, and micro-segmentation).
- Strong experience with IaC tools and methodologies for automated network provisioning.
- Familiarity with cloud architecture principles and Zero Trust security models.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
Required Technologies:
- Deep expertise in Microsoft Azure services, specifically VNETs, ExpressRoute, VPN Gateways, and Azure Firewall.
- Advanced proficiency in configuration of network technologies (BGP, DNS, Load Balancers, and Traffic Manager).
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, Hashicorp Sentinel / Open Policy Agent, and Azure Resource Manager templates.
- Knowledge of scripting and automation for network tasks using languages like PowerShell, Python, or Bash.
- Familiarity with network security practices (NSGs, ASGs) and specialized security tools.
- Experience with network observability and traffic analysis tools (e.g., Azure Network Watcher, Log Analytics, Grafana, or ELK).
- Experience with service mesh solutions for AKS (e.g., Istio / Open Service Mesh / Azure Service Mesh)
- Experience applying Microsoft Cloud Adoption Framework (CAF) principles, including Azure Landing Zone design, governance, security, and network topology standards.
- Familiarity with CIS Benchmarks for Azure, ensuring network and cloud resources are configured in alignment with industry security and compliance best practices.
