POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Environmental and Social Specialist will be part of the Environmental and Social (E&S) APAC team, providing his expertise to a wide variety of clients (lenders, developers, private investors, private companies) involved in infrastructure projects across the APAC region. The role involves managing multiple assignments in parallel and delivering high-quality inputs for a range of projects, including Environmental and Social Due Diligence (ESDD), Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIA), and social audits.

Your team:
You will be part of two teams working jointly in close and continuous collaboration:
- The Hydropower Team within Artelia Vietnam's Energy & Environment Department: based in Ho Chi Minh City and composed of hydropower experts, our hydropower team serves as a technical liaison between Artelia's Centre of Expertise in France and our clients across South-East Asia, as well as providing technical and overall project management support.
- The Dam and Hydropower Department in France: based in the French Alps, with a century of hydropower achievements, Artelia's Dam and Hydropower department is today ranked among the world's top 10 engineering firms in the sector, with nearly 200 engineers specialized in hydropower covering all disciplines.
RESPONSIBILITY:
Hydropower Civil Engineering
- Design and sizing of civil and hydraulic structures for dams and hydroelectric facilities
- Participate on studies (pre-feasibility, feasibility, Basic Design and Detailed Design) and Tender Documents preparation
- Carry out occasional site visits (greenfield or plants in operation) for inspections and expertise
- Contribute to strengthening the team's technical reference framework, tools, and methods
Hydropower Engineering Coordination
- Manage interfaces with other disciplines (geotechnics, hydraulics, electromechanics, environment, etc.) in support of the project manager
- Coordinate work between technical expertise in France and the engineering departments in Vietnam
Support to Hydropower Business Development
- Technical contribution during proposal preparation
- Technical support to commercial activities in ASEAN for Dams and Hydropower activity
REQUIREMENTS:
- Basic education: Master's degree in civil or hydraulics engineering
- >5-year experience
- Previous experience in hydropower engineering/ engineering consultant.
- Previous experience working on projects in South-East Asia countries
- Proficient in Autocad, Revit, Autocad 3D and similar software
- Fluent English (both written and spoken) mandatory
- Ability to communicate effectively in Chinese is an advantage
- Willingness to work in multi-national environment, with colleagues based in South-East Asia and France
- Able to lead technical discussions with clients and partners
- Travel within Vietnam and abroad be expected occasionally
