Role Overview
We are seeking a Chief of Staff to the CEO to act as a force multiplier across the entire business. This is a high-intensity, high-ownership role designed for someone who can operate across strategy and execution, and ensure that decisions made by the CEO translate into real-world outcomes across the company.
The Chief of Staff is the first responder across all operational domains—product, engineering, finance, HR, marketing, sales, partnerships, and internal operations. The role exists to ensure that nothing important slows down, gets lost, or lacks ownership.
This is not an Executive Assistant role. If you are looking for task-taking, scheduling support, or administrative coordination, this role is not suitable. This role is for someone who can think like a consultant, execute like an operator, and follow through like a founder
The Chief of Staff's primary responsibility is to:
Protect CEO time and multiply CEO impact by ensuring execution across all critical functions of the business.
They are expected to:
- Understand problems deeply and quickly
- Structure ambiguity into clear action plans
- Drive execution across teams without needing constant direction
- Ensure accountability and follow-through
- Make sound decisions independently when needed
- Escalate only what truly requires CEO input
Key Responsibilities
1. CEO Force Multiplier & Execution Bridge
- Act as the central execution layer between CEO and all teams.
- Translate CEO decisions into structured execution plans across functions.
- Ensure alignment across product, engineering, content, operations, and external stakeholders.
- Drive clarity in priorities and remove ambiguity across teams.
- Ensure nothing critical stalls due to lack of ownership or follow-through.
2. Cross-Functional Problem Solving (End-to-End Ownership)
- Take ownership of problems spanning multiple domains:
- Product & engineering execution blockers
- Financial or operational bottlenecks
- Hiring and HR coordination issues
- Marketing and user acquisition experiments
- Sales, partnerships, and external relationships
- Diagnose issues quickly, structure solutions, and drive execution to completion.
- Ensure problems are not only identified but fully resolved.
3. Strategy-to-Execution Translation
- Convert high-level strategic direction into:
- Clear action plans
- Prioritized workstreams
- Measurable outputs
- Ensure strategic initiatives are executed without dilution or loss of intent.
- Maintain alignment between long-term vision and day-to-day execution.
4. Operational Ownership Across Business Functions
- Support or directly manage execution across:
- Product development coordination
- Engineering prioritization alignment
- Financial tracking and basic oversight
- Hiring coordination and talent pipeline management
- Marketing and growth experiments
- Internal operations and process design
- Step into gaps wherever ownership is missing.
5. Data, Insights & Decision Support
- Work with product and analytics tools (e.g. Mixpanel) to monitor key metrics.
- Synthesize qualitative and quantitative inputs into actionable insights.
- Support CEO decision-making with structured reasoning, not raw information.
- Ensure decisions are backed by logic, data, and clear trade-offs.
6. External & Local Execution (Vietnam Context)
- Navigate local operational nuances in Vietnam including:
- Vendors and external partners
- Hiring and labor market realities
- Regulatory and administrative requirements (as needed)
- Ensure execution is adapted to local constraints and realities, not theoretical frameworks.
Requirements
- 3–7 years of experience in:
- Top-tier consulting
- High-growth startups
- Strong cross-functional operational roles
- Exceptional structured thinking and problem-solving ability
- Ability to break down ambiguity into clear frameworks and execution plans
- Strong bias for action and follow-through
- Excellent English communication (written and verbal) is mandatory
- Ability to operate independently without detailed instructions
- High comfort operating in fast-changing, ambiguous environments
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Proven ability to manage multiple stakeholders and competing priorities
Strong Plus:
- Experience operating in Vietnam or Southeast Asia markets
- Exposure to early-stage startup environments
What Success Looks Like
This role succeeds when:
- CEO time is consistently protected and focused on highest-value decisions
- Execution across teams becomes faster, clearer, and more reliable
- Fewer decisions require escalation because ownership is clear
- Cross-functional initiatives are completed end-to-end without founder intervention
- The company operates with clarity even in high ambiguity
- Strategic intent consistently translates into real shipped outcomes
Core Principle of the Role
- This role is built on a simple expectation:
- You are expected to be right most of the time, move fast, and ensure execution actually happens.
- This is not a coordination role.
- This is not a reporting role.
- This is an execution ownership role across the entire company on behalf of the CEO.
