CHIEF ACCOUNTANT

Mekong Merchant (MM) is one of the oldest and most well-known restaurants in Tho in and is recognized as one of the best brasserie-style dining destinations in Ho Chi Minh City. We are seeking an organized, responsible, and energetic Chief Accountant to join our team.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

1. Accounting operations

Manage the daily accounting operations of the restaurant, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and cash management.

Ensure all financial transactions are recorded accurately and on time.

Maintain proper accounting documentation and records in compliance with Vietnamese accounting standards.

Supervise bookkeeping activities and ensure accurate reconciliation of accounts.

2. Financial reporting

Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.

Produce management reports including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports.

Analyze financial data and provide insights to management regarding business performance.

Ensure financial reports are accurate and submitted on time.

3. Tax compliance

Ensure compliance with Vietnamese tax regulations and accounting laws.

Prepare and submit tax declarations, including VAT, Corporate Income Tax (CIT), and Personal Income Tax (PIT).

Coordinate with tax authorities and external auditors when required.

Maintain proper tax documentation and ensure timely tax payments.

4. Budgeting and financial planning

Assist management in preparing annual budgets and financial forecasts.

Monitor financial performance against budgets and identify variances.

Provide recommendations to improve financial efficiency and cost control.

Support strategic planning through financial analysis.

5. Payroll and staff benefits

Oversee payroll preparation and ensure salary calculations are accurate.

Ensure compliance with labor regulations related to salaries, taxes, and benefits.

Coordinate with HR regarding payroll records, employee contracts, and statutory contributions.

6. Internal controls

Establish and maintain strong internal financial control procedures.

Monitor cash handling procedures and ensure proper reconciliation of daily sales and POS reports.

Identify financial risks and recommend corrective actions.

Ensure proper approval processes for expenses and payments.

7. Audit and financial documentation

Prepare financial documentation for internal and external audits if required.

Ensure proper filing and maintenance of accounting records.

Support management with financial documentation when required.

8. Audit and financial documentation

Sign documents of payable accounting: Financial invoices and detailed spreadsheet(s) supporting invoices;

Payment requests to customers.

Sign Financial/ accounting reports and other compulsory reports required by laws: Company financial/ accounting and statistics reports required by laws;

Using token to sign (electronic) tax declaration forms;

Sign Official letters/ clarification documents to be sent to relevant government bodies in relation to tax and statistics polices/ procedures/provisions

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

Chief Accountant Certificate required according to Vietnamese regulations.

Minimum 5 years of accounting experience.

At least 3 years chief accountant role preferred.

Experience in hospitality, restaurant, or F&B industry is highly desirable.

Strong knowledge of Vietnamese accounting standards and tax regulations.

Experience with accounting software and financial management systems.

Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, MISA, and POS software.

Good English communication skills.

Strong organizational and time management skills.

Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

SCHEDULE:

Probation: 2 months.

Working arrangement: Hybrid.
