The Business Development Manager (BDM) drives brand recognition and profitable financial growth for the assigned business and territory through strategic account management, distributor partnerships, and engagement with key opinion leaders (KOLs) and lead surgeons. This role involves creating and executing business strategies aligned with overall objectives, fostering strong relationships with channel partners, and supporting growth through HCP training, implant planning, and new product launches. The BDM oversees internal processes to ensure successful product launches and positioning while collaborating with stakeholders to analyze market trends and propose revenue- and margin-enhancing ideas. Responsibilities include identifying and supporting deal execution, conducting due diligence, maintaining BD pipeline reports, and managing market mapping and trackers. The BDM also actively trains direct and indirect sales teams to enhance technical expertise and achieve profitable sales growth. Additionally, the role develops and implements strategies to strengthen relationships with key opinion leaders and maintain influence in the market. This position requires a balance of strategic planning, operational execution, and stakeholder engagement to drive business success.

What will you be doing

  • Achieve or exceed sales budgets for the assigned product portfolio, leveraging market insights and competitor analysis to identify growth opportunities.
  • Perform market mapping, customer needs assessments, and risk evaluations to support strategic decision-making.
  • Collaborate with business units and corporate functions to evaluate, screen, and execute new opportunities, including due diligence for potential transactions.
  • Drive growth by identifying and developing new channel partners while managing customer relationships to achieve sales goals.
  • Lead project management initiatives, including implementing equipment capitalization projects to enhance market penetration.
  • Optimize business processes by providing actionable feedback, ensuring effective customer and channel partner management.
  • Train and coach distributor personnel and indirect sales teams, fostering excellence in product knowledge and selling skills.
  • Maintain BD pipeline reports, track performance metrics, and support monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting and budgeting processes.
  • Ensure compliance with internal processes, regulatory requirements, and training modules for distributors and sales personnel.
  • Act as a role model in adhering to workplace safety, health, and security policies, taking on additional responsibilities as needed.

What do you need to be successful

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience in managing complex and chronic wounds including surgical wounds.
  • In-depth understanding of medical devices used in wound management, including their indications, contraindications, and proper application techniques.
  • Ability to develop and deliver training programs for clinical staff on the proper use and maintenance of wound care devices.
  • Certifications in wound care (e.g., Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nursing Certification) are advantageous.
  • Proficiency in presenting financial information.
