Job Description

RESPONSIBILITIES

Platform Development & Architecture (60%)

  • Design and implement Data Mesh infrastructure using AWS services and SDLF framework
  • Develop and maintain AWS infrastructure-as-code (CloudFormation, CDK)
  • Improve the building of data pipelines by data engineers using AWS SDLF
  • Implement data governance using AWS DataZone
  • Optimize platform performance, cost, and scalability

Technical Leadership & Supervision (25%)

  • Supervise platform support specialist(s) and provide technical guidance
  • Review infrastructure changes and deployments
  • Mentor junior resources on AWS and data mesh concepts
  • Coordinate with Covestro DevOps and data engineering teams

Strategic Planning & Stakeholder Management (15%)

  • Drive platform roadmap aligned with Covestro's data mesh strategy
  • Collaborate with Data Stewards, Data Engineers, Domain Owners, and business stakeholders
  • Evaluate and integrate new AWS services and tools
  • Provide technical consultation for data mesh adoption
  • Document architectural decisions and technical specifications

REQUIREMENTS

Must have:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in software development using DevOps skills: Git/GitHub, CI/CD, AWS CDK, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), AWS CodePipeline.
  • Hands-on experience building, deploying, and operating AWS services related to Data Platforms (S3, Glue, Athena, Lambda, DataZone, Lake Formation, etc.).
  • Experience with troubleshooting, automation, and operations in AWS production environments.
  • Ability to work independently, proactively identifying opportunities to improve system performance and architecture.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and keen attention to detail.
  • Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal.
