Position Summary
The AVPI Communications & Events Coordinator is responsible for supporting the strategic communications and events needs of the Australia Vietnam Policy Institute (AVPI) in Vietnam, which operates as part of the Representative Office of RMIT University in Vietnam. The role will work under broad direction to create communications and design content that contribute to the goals of the AVPI and RMIT Representative Office. It will also support events and projects on an ad hoc basis, acting as a core member of the Hanoi team. It will work closely with internal and external stakeholders in Vietnam and Australia to coordinate AVPI activities that contribute to building the Australia-Vietnam partnership.
Key Accountabilities Summary
- Under broad direction, develop and deliver strategic engagement and design content to support the visibility and growth of the AVPI and broader RMIT Representative Office activities in Vietnam.
- Proactively create communications content for the AVPI website, newsletter and social media platforms, including coordinating and scheduling social media posts.
- Contribute to Australia-Vietnam communications campaigns, working closely with the AVPI communications lead in Melbourne.
- Under broad direction, plan, coordinate and deliver strategic events across multiple locations, including travel to domestic and, where required, international venues, to support the objectives of the Australia Vietnam Policy Institute (AVPI) and the Representative Office of RMIT University in Vietnam.
- Support the delivery of strategic projects by working closely with relevant teams across RMIT Vietnam and RMIT Australia, as well as with external partners.
- Communicate effectively between a wide variety of stakeholders, individuals and team members.
- Track project and event stakeholders using Salesforce.
- Undertake additional responsibilities as agreed with the Head, Hanoi Industry and Innovation Hub.
Key Selection Criteria
- Strong professional writing and editing skills, including writing for multiple audiences in various formats for both print and digital environments.
- Experience contributing to communications strategies and campaigns to support the engagement needs of strategic projects and initiatives.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, organise and deliver events effectively, including managing timelines, logistics and priorities.
- Experience working with internal and external stakeholders to coordinate and support strategic events and/or projects.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with staff at all levels of the University to achieve agreed outcomes and targets.
- Self-motivated and proactive team member with positive solutions-focused approach to supporting team and project outcomes.
- High level of attention to detail, with the ability to ensure operational needs meet strategic goals.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with broad direction, as well as collaboratively in a team environment, including working effectively in a cross-cultural context.
