The Associate Planner, Supply Chain Operations leverages their in-depth knowledge of the supply base along with their analytical skills and critical thinking to guide the supply chain plan of each supplier with the goal of optimizing their on-time performance to Ashley Furniture's purchase orders. The Associate Planner collaborates with cross-functional teams within Ashley Furniture to ensure the global supply chain strategy and tactical plan are aligned and executed.
1. Supplier onboarding and training:
- Provide training to new suppliers and their new team members on Ashley's requirements for supply chain management.
- Provide continuous training to suppliers as Ashley's processes change.
2. Review, negotiate, and maintain supplier capacities:
- Visit suppliers factories weekly to review production and warehouse capacity plans and execution.
- Maintain accurate capacity data in the master reports and apply overrides when necessary to mitigate the risk of delaying Ashley PO's due to capacity constraints.
3. Production scheduling and material planning:
- Align with Global Supply Chain Planning team weekly on Ashley's supply plan.
- Provide guidance to each supplier for their production schedule and material purchases to ensure they can achieve >95% on time delivery to Ashley's purchase orders.
- Analyze the plans for materials with long lead-times and/or large MOQ's to mitigate both the supplier's and Ashley's risk of excess inventory.
4. Product lifecycle management and promotion planning:
- Coordinate cross-functionally within Ashley and with the suppliers to ensure the launch of New Go products and retirement of Dropped products are executed to Ashley's standard.
- Identify the capability of a supplier to execute the on-time delivery of large promotion orders while escalating the risk that the promotion may pose to other products at the given supplier.
5. Logistics booking guidance:
- Review the purchase order plan and manufacturing schedule of assigned suppliers to verify that the ocean freight bookings requested from Ashley's logistics team align with the true needs of the factory.
Ensure that the suppliers utilize the optimal bookings when an expedite or a delay are being requested (i.e., fastest transit time OR slowest transit time).
