JOB SUMMARY
Major responsibility is to lead the Quality Engineering team to support new product development and corresponding VE/PSE project-related quality engineering activities (Motor & Power Tool).
This role is also responsible for:
- Following up MP troubleshooting activities to resolve quality issues and customer complaints.
- Leading the Quality Engineering team in collecting and analyzing quality data to identify continuous improvement opportunities.
- Collaborating with the US team and coordinating PRC corrective action systems to ensure timely root cause analysis and effective corrective/preventive actions.
- Modifying methodologies as needed to ensure permanent elimination of failures and quality issues.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND AUTHORITIES
New Product Development (NPD) Support
- Lead the Quality Engineering team to follow up production readiness for assigned New Product Development projects, including:
- System-level validation
- Component readiness
- Supplier readiness
- Lead the team in monitoring all qualification runs.
- Follow up EB/QB/PR issue closures and update the Qualification Readiness Sheet (QRS).
- Prepare Product Control Plans based on PFMEA risk assessment, product drawings, and CTQs.
- Prepare check cards for testing stations.
- Review and follow up assembly fixture qualifications during NPD manufacturing (Cpk, GR&R, etc.).
- Follow up new part qualification according to Supplier Part Qualification Requirements (SPQR) with SQE and new part SER approval.
- Participate in DFMA (Design for Manufacturing & Assembly) meetings with cross-functional teams and provide quality-related recommendations.
Production Quality Management
- Handle mass production (MP) quality issues to minimize line stoppages and abnormalities.
- Manage customer complaints and warranty cases to improve customer satisfaction.
- Apply the 8D methodology and prepare 8D reports for quality issue resolution.
- Support continuous quality improvement activities and projects aligned with quality management KPIs.
- Leverage lessons learned from previous projects, customer complaints, and warranty cases.
Quality Function Leadership
- Manage NPD production readiness risks during the early concept development stage.
- Provide FMEA inputs early in the product development process.
- Thoroughly review products newly introduced to Vietnam and align all functions and activities before mass production starts.
- Ensure lessons learned from MP and NPD activities are translated into preventive actions.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives in quality and reliability.
REQUIREMENTS
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent Engineering discipline.
Experience
- Minimum 8 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
- At least 3 years of managerial experience.
- Familiarity with metal products and manufacturing processes; experience in the motor industry is a plus.
- Excellent written and spoken English and Mandarin skills.
- Proven experience with quality systems and standards such as ISO 9000 and TS16949.
- Basic Six Sigma knowledge and practical application preferred.
