JOB PURPOSE
Provide expert-level operational command and decision support within the Airport Operations Control Centre (AOCC) to ensure safe, efficient, and resilient airport operations. Integrates real-time operational information across airside, landside, terminal, and airline interfaces to manage complex disruptions and high-risk scenarios. Acts as a Duty Officer during assigned shifts and supports capability development through mentoring and technical guidance.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
I. Operational Command & Coordination
- Act as Airport Duty Officer during assigned shifts, lead real-time operational command activities within the AOCC, ensuring integrated management of airside, landside, terminal, and airline operations, in accordance with approved procedures.
- Maintain airport-wide situational awareness and lead the coordination of responses to complex disruptions and irregular operations (IRROPS) effectively.
- Assess multi-source operational information to resolve flight conflicts, capacity constraints, and high-risk operational scenarios in a timely manner.
- Coordinate closely with Flight Coordination, Airside, Terminal, and Ground Handling teams to align operational actions during live operations.
- Provide expert technical guidance and decision support to AOCC staff during disruptions, emergencies, and elevated-risk situations.
II. Operational Analysis & Optimization
- Use airport operational systems and tools (e.g., AODB/FIDS, A-CDM platforms, slot and gate/stand management systems) to monitor operational trends and emerging constraints.
- Analyze operational conditions and recommend recovery options and capacity utilization adjustments to support timely decision-making and minimize delays.
- Conduct post-incident operational reviews and root cause analysis to identify contributing factors and improvement opportunities.
- Collaborate with relevant teams to align operational recovery actions with approved procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Prepare operational analyses, reports and briefings for senior management and relevant stakeholders, providing factual insights to support strategic decision-making.
III. Compliance, Training, & Continuous Improvement
- Ensure all AOCC operations adhere strictly to IATA, ICAO, CAAV or relevant regulatory frameworks and safety standards.
- Lead training sessions and workshops to enhance the technical and operational capabilities of AOCC personnel.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by integrating lessons learned from operational incidents and industry best practices.
- Support audits and inspections by regulatory bodies through providing operational inputs, documentation and clarifications, as required. Ensuring readiness and compliance documentation are maintained.
- Promote a culture of safety, collaboration, and operational excellence within the AOCC team.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications & Work Experience:
- Tertiary qualification in aviation, operations, engineering, or a related field is preferred. Candidates with substantial relevant experience may be considered in lieu of formal qualifications.
- 10–12 years of progressive operational experience in airport operations, airline operations control, or a related operational environment, preferably within a 24/7, high-reliability setting.
- At least 5 years of experience in an Airport Operations Control Centre (AOCC), operational command role, or equivalent real-time operations coordination function.
- Demonstrated experience acting in a shift-based command or duty officer capacity, leading real-time operational coordination during disruptions and irregular operations.
- Proven ability to coordinate effectively with internal operational departments and external operational stakeholders during both normal and disrupted operations.
- Strong working knowledge of International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standards and the ability to quickly interpret and apply local aviation regulations relevant to airport operations.
- In-depth understanding of end-to-end airport operational processes, across both airside and terminal environments, including disruption and recovery scenarios.
- Proven experience working with airport operational and decision systems e.g., FDS, A-CDM, slot and capacity management, and gate allocation tools etc. to support real-time operational coordination and decision making.
- Experience working in large, complex, or international aviation environments is preferred.
Certifications & Licenses:
- Valid Airport Operations Certificate or equivalent industry-recognized certification preferred.
- ICAO Safety Management Systems (SMS) training certification preferred.
