Job Description

We are looking for talented Software Engineers with 2 to 5 years of experience to join our development team focusing on the Android Automotive OS (AAOS) audio ecosystem.

In this role, you will go beyond Android audio framework development and dive deep into the backbone of the Android audio system. You will be responsible for optimizing audio data paths, managing complex priority scenarios (Audio Focus, Volume) in a vehicle environment, and ensuring the stability of the HAL layer when interacting with hardware. This is a premier opportunity to become an expert in a field leading the future of automotive audio technology.

Key Responsible:

Design, customize and develop components within the Android Audio Framework (AudioFlinger, AudioPolicy, AudioManager).

Develop logic for CarAudioService: Configure Audio Zones and manage Audio Focus across multiple sources (Navigation, Media, Phone calls, Vehicle beep warnings), OemCarSevice, etc..

Implement Volume & Mute management mechanisms specific to the automotive environment.

Develop and maintain the Audio HAL layer (HIDL/AIDL) and collaborate closely with Driver/DSP teams.

Implement multi-source audio management: priority control for navigation, music, phone, notification sounds.

Qualifications:

Must have:

Experience: 2 to 5 years of intensive experience in Android Framework components (Audio Service) or Embedded Android development.

Programming Languages: Proficiency in Java and C++ (the ability to read and understand AOSP source code is mandatory).

Android Knowledge: Understanding of Android system architecture, framework layer development and the lifecycle of an audio stream from the audio framework layer down to Audio HAL.

Automotive Audio Domain: Knowledge of CarAudioService and how Android handles audio specifically within a vehicle.

Understand about design patterns and good experience in design of UML diagrams.

English: Proficiency in English is a must (for technical documentation and professional communication).

Nice to have:

Experience in Android Application development (specifically Media Player or Sound Recorder apps).

Experience with Audio HAL implementation and Audio Policy XML configuration.

Tools: Familiar with system debugging tools such as Logcat, dumpsys, QACT, AudioTrack/ AudioRecord/ AudioFlinger traces. Having hands-on experience in using JIRA, Confluence, RT, Git, Gerrit. Experience in Enterprise Architect tool (like EA, Rational Rhapsody)
