About This Role: 

Orbital Kitchens runs on a Snowflake data warehouse, dashboards built in Sigma, and an AI-powered chatbot that answers questions using semantic views on top of our data. We're looking for an Analytics Engineer to sit at the center of that ecosystem — someone who can maintain the gold layer that feeds our reporting, build and evolve the dashboards that finance, marketing, kitchen ops, and our executive team rely on daily, and turn operational questions into clear metrics. This is a full-scope role with the same responsibilities and access as our NYC-based hire: you'll work directly in our production warehouse and BI tools, not a sandboxed or read-only copy.

Most of your time will go toward analysis, dashboarding, and metric design; the remainder toward maintaining the SQL/Python transformation layer underneath it, and potentially toward extending observability into our internal software tools alongside our engineering team.

Responsibilities:

• Build and maintain intuitive, reliable dashboards in Sigma that support finance, marketing, kitchen ops, culinary development, and executive decision-making — this is the core of the role.
• Translate complex business challenges into clear metrics, KPIs, and analytical frameworks, and communicate findings clearly in writing to a distributed, primarily NYC-based team.
• Maintain and evolve the gold layer of our Snowflake warehouse, primarily using SQL and Python to transform, model, and validate data.
• Monitor and maintain our existing ETL jobs and Airflow orchestration, troubleshooting pipeline failures and making incremental improvements as our data needs evolve.
• Ensure high data quality, reliability, and consistency across our analytics ecosystem.
• Partner async with stakeholders across operations, finance, marketing, and engineering to understand workflows and identify where data can unlock insights.
• Support and extend our AI-powered chatbot, which uses semantic views on top of our warehouse — including refining semantic layers and natural-language interfaces for internal tooling.
• As capacity allows, help extend observability into our internal software tools alongside the software engineering team.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Data Analytics, Business Analytics, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field.
• Strong proficiency in SQL and experience preparing data for analytics or BI reporting.
• Experience with BI tools such as Sigma, Power BI, or Tableau.
• Ability to translate operational problems into data questions and actionable insights.
• Clear written communication in English; comfortable working asynchronously across time zones.
• A self-starter mindset with comfort owning projects end-to-end in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred:

• Experience with Snowflake or another modern cloud data warehouse (Redshift, BigQuery, Databricks, etc.).
• Familiarity with Python for data transformation or analysis.
• Exposure to AI/ML concepts, embeddings, or semantic layers.
• Understanding of operational or food-tech/restaurant analytics.
• Exposure to software observability concepts (logging, monitoring, or system health dashboards) is a bonus, not a requirement.
