JOB PURPOSE

Responsible for the operation, inspection, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Airfield Ground Lighting (AGL) systems and airfield electrical infrastructure to ensure safe, continuous, and regulatory-compliant airport operations.

The role supports the availability and reliability of runway, taxiway, apron lighting systems and associated electrical assets in accordance with ICAO standards, airport operating procedures, and applicable aviation regulations.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

I. Airfield Ground Lighting (AGL) Operations & Maintenance

  1. Operate and maintain Airfield Ground Lighting (AGL) systems including runway, taxiway, stop bar, approach lighting, apron lighting and associated control systems.
  2. Conduct routine inspections of airfield lighting systems and electrical infrastructure.
  3. Monitor lighting performance and identify defects, outages, or abnormalities.
  4. Perform corrective and preventive maintenance activities to ensure system availability and operational readiness.
  5. Support airfield inspections during operational hours and maintenance windows.

II. Electrical Infrastructure Maintenance

  1. Operate and maintain electrical distribution systems serving airfield facilities.
  2. Maintain transformers, switchgear, regulators, circuit breakers, CCRs (Constant Current Regulators), UPS systems and associated equipment.
  3. Support testing, commissioning and acceptance of new electrical installations and upgrades.
  4. Coordinate with contractors and vendors during maintenance activities.

III. Fault Response & Emergency Support

  1. Respond to airfield electrical and lighting faults in accordance with airport response procedures.
  2. Investigate root causes of equipment failures and recommend corrective actions.
  3. Support emergency operations and restoration activities to minimize operational disruptions.
  4. Participate in on-call and shift duties as required.

IV. Safety, Compliance & Documentation

  1. Ensure compliance with ICAO, CAAV, airport safety requirements and electrical safety regulations.
  2. Prepare maintenance records, inspection reports and technical documentation.
  3. Participate in safety audits, inspections and regulatory reviews.
  4. Support implementation of safety management system (SMS) requirements.

V. Continuous Improvement

  1. Identify opportunities to improve reliability and efficiency of airfield electrical systems.
  2. Contribute to asset management and lifecycle planning activities.
  3. Support digitalization, monitoring and predictive maintenance initiatives.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in: Electrical Engineering, Electrical Power Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, etc.

Work Experience

  • Minimum 1–3 years of experience in electrical maintenance, industrial electrical systems, utilities, transportation infrastructure or airport operations.
  • Experience with airfield lighting systems is preferred.
  • Experience in critical infrastructure environments is an advantage.
