About The Role
The AI Automation Engineer builds tools, scripts, and workflows to reduce manual operational work and improve productivity across game teams. This role focuses on automation within development workflows rather than infrastructure ownership. With a strong emphasis on AI-assisted solutions, the role aims to enhance operational efficiency, reduce repetitive tasks, and is ideal for early-career engineers interested in automation and tooling.
Responsibilities
- AI Assisted Automation
- Leverage modern AI assisted engineering tools to accelerate automation development.
- Identify opportunities where AI can improve operational workflows, debugging, and knowledge capture.
- Experiment with AI assisted solutions for tasks such as log analysis, automation generation, and operational diagnostics.
- Work with technical leadership to ensure responsible and effective adoption of AI assisted tooling across the studio.
- Automation, Tooling, and Operational Excellence
- Partner closely with game teams, LiveOps, and platform engineers to identify operational pain points and repetitive tasks.
- Co-design and implement automation, tools, and reusable frameworks that reduce manual effort and scale across titles.
- Improve workflows across LiveOps, configuration, QA, and operational support to increase efficiency and reliability.
- Help standardize tooling and operational practices across games to enable consistency and scalability.
- Ensure solutions are reliable, well documented, and easy for teams to adopt and maintain.
- Drive post incident improvements through automation and safeguards that prevent recurring issues.
- Monitoring and Operational Visibility
- Help improve monitoring dashboards, alerts, and operational visibility.
- Develop tooling that simplifies log analysis, diagnostics, and operational troubleshooting.
- Assist engineering teams in identifying operational risks earlier through better tooling and insights.
- Collaboration with DevOps and Platform Teams
- Collaborate with the central DevOps team when automation interacts with deployment pipelines or infrastructure systems.
- Ensure studio level automation aligns with existing DevOps standards and platform capabilities.
- Focus primarily on automation, operational tooling, and workflow improvements within the game development lifecycle.
Qualifications
Must have:
- 2 to 3 years of experience in software engineering, automation, or developer tooling.
- Good command of written and spoken English.
- Experience building tools, scripts, or productivity utilities for engineers.
- Experience using AI assisted development tools as part of engineering workflows. (Claude Code, OpenCode, LangChain, Codex, Devin...)
- Familiarity with Git and modern software development workflows.
- Interest in automation, operational systems, and engineering productivity.
- Strong scripting or programming skills (at least one of the following: C#, Java, Python, TypeScript, or similar).
Nice to have:
- Exposure to monitoring, logging, or operational diagnostics tooling.
- Familiarity with CI/CD systems or build pipelines.
- Experience working on live products or operational systems.
- Basic understanding of cloud infrastructure concepts.
Note: Infrastructure and DevOps responsibilities are primarily handled by the central DevOps team. Experience in these areas is helpful but not required.
Additional Notes: You may be expected to complete a test as part of the interviewing procedure.
