Functional objectives

  • Strategic approach to project purchasing w/ early integration of procurement strategy in product strategy
  • Effective interface of procurement to and collaboration with relevant business functions (development)

Is responsible for

  • Perform project sourcing from early development to mass production and initiate supplier qualification process
  • Contribute to supplier selection and negotiate contracts for project procurement (under consideration of Total Cost Ownership – TCO, meeting target cost requirements by cost structure breakdown, material process evaluation,ect. to define and decide the cost/process optimization and savings) for new products
  • Implement category strategy in product development process from earliest stage in close coordination with Material Group Managers, ensuring integral Procurement mandate in development process
  • Provide interface between Development, Quality and Purchasing, in order to improve launch timing, to control price and supplier competition and and ensure an unified communication approach with suppliers.
  • Actively share best practice across regions, leveraging global APE function for standardized sourcing
  • Other duties assigned by Management Team

Education and professional knowledge

  • 3+ years expertise in advanced procurement engineering and supplier management
  • Profound (technical) knowledge of project procurement, incl. supplier landscapes, function-specific needs, key market development and supplier price/ cost-structure
  • Educated to a degree level in engineering (i.e., B.Sc./ M.Sc. equiv.) or master craftsman
  • Requires strong technical knowledge, preferably in Injection, Casting, Stamping, or special processes (at least one of above tech.)
  • Procurement and technical experience in the connector industry or related fields is a plus
  • High degree of independence and strong analytical capabilities to design/ implement strategic initiatives and steer procurement performance
  • Strong interpersonal skills to manage and align stakeholders and support the procurement team, including guiding junior Procurement Engineer.
  • Profound English skills orally and in writing
  • Knowledge of purchasing processes, international trade terms and tax
  • Good Digital skills and knowledge of MS Office, preferably familiar with purchasing modules of ERP / SAP
