Job Description

The Simultaneous Engineering (SE) Engineer – BIW is responsible for evaluating product design feasibility and ensuring manufacturability for Body in White systems during vehicle development and launch phases. The role works closely with Design, Manufacturing, Quality, and Launch teams to support smooth production implementation, optimize manufacturing efficiency, and drive continuous improvement
Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate and assess BIW design feasibility for implementation on current and future production lines.
  • Collaborate closely with Design, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, and Launch teams during vehicle development stages.
  • Support simultaneous engineering activities for new model development with end-to-end project involvement.
  • Conduct Design for Manufacturing (DFM) studies and provide technical feedback to optimize product and process design.
  • Review and support engineering changes, including DC/ECR activities and risk assessments.
  • Support production launch activities to ensure stable, high-quality, and competitive start-up performance.
  • Drive Right First Time methodology and continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing processes.
  • Participate in DRR/CFT meetings, track action items, and ensure timely closure of technical concerns.
  • Analyze and resolve manufacturing issues related to BIW processes, tooling, fixtures, and assembly.
  • Support throughput optimization, cycle time improvement, and line balancing activities.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional and overseas teams to ensure fast response, effective communication, and project alignment.
  • Prepare technical reports and provide regular updates to Technical Manager.
  • Perform other tasks assigned by direct management.

Requirements

Qualifications & Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related technical fields.
  • Minimum 10–15 years of experience in automotive manufacturing, preferably in BIW or vehicle assembly engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of BIW manufacturing processes, tooling, fixtures, welding systems, and assembly operations.
  • Experience in simultaneous engineering, DFM studies, and new model launch projects.
  • Familiar with problem prevention, detection, and issue resolution during project development stages.
  • Experience working with engineering change management and manufacturing validation processes.
  • Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing and Operational Excellence principles.
  • Good problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Able to work independently and effectively with cross-functional and international teams.
  • Proactive, result-oriented, and able to work under high-pressure environments.
Technical Skills
  • Proficient in CATIA, AutoCAD, Teamcenter, and related engineering software.
  • Knowledge of PFMEA, 8D, Root Cause Analysis, and 5 Core Tools.
  • Familiar with Six Sigma and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Understanding of manufacturing process planning, tooling concept development, and line optimization.
