This role ensures system performance, safety, and regulatory compliance through structured KPIs, performance testing, tuning, and robust test methodologies. The engineer will collaborate closely with system design, algorithm, simulation, and calibration teams to support development through the entire DVP lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

1. Test Planning & DVP Management

  • Develop and maintain the Design Verification Plan (DVP) for ADAS functions (ACC, AEB, LKA, BSD, etc.).
  • Define test scope, strategy, and validation coverage aligned with system requirements, safety goals, and regulatory standards (Euro NCAP, UNECE R152, R79, R46, R130, etc.).
  • Create detailed Test Plans including resource, schedule, vehicle, equipment, and environmental needs.
  • Track DVP execution progress and maintain traceability between requirements test cases results.

2. Test Case Development

  • Create comprehensive test cases for functional, performance, environmental, corner-case, and regression testing.
  • Ensure test cases are aligned with system requirements, safety KPIs, misuse conditions, and diagnostic expectations.
  • Convert scenario definitions (logical, concrete, physical) into executable tests for proving ground, road, or simulation platforms.

3. KPI Definition & Performance Evaluation

  • Define KPIs for perception, fusion, and control algorithms (e.g., detection rate, TTC accuracy, lane tracking error, control smoothness, intervention timing).
  • Establish acceptance criteria for system performance and compliance with customer, internal, and regulatory requirements.
  • Analyze collected data to evaluate ADAS accuracy, robustness, and stability across various conditions.

4. ADAS System Tuning

  • Support system tuning and calibration activities for sensors, control parameters, and algorithm thresholds.
  • Conduct subjective and objective tuning sessions on road and proving grounds.
  • Provide recommendations to algorithm developers based on data analysis and system behavior.

5. Validation Execution

  • Perform vehicle-level, system-level, and component-level tests, including:
    • Real-world driving tests
    • Proving ground scenario tests
    • HIL/SIL/MIL testing
    • Environmental stress tests
  • Operate ADAS test equipment: GNSS/RTK, steering robots, soft targets (GVT, GST, VRU), radar emulators, camera logs, CAN tools, etc.
  • Ensure test safety and adherence to driving protocols.

6. Data Analysis & Reporting

  • Review CAN, sensor, perception, and ground-truth data using tools such as CANoe, ADTF, Matlab, Python, or custom logging tools.
  • Create clear test reports summarizing results, KPIs, failure modes, and recommendations.
Track issues in Jira, Polarion, or internal tracking systems with clear root cause hypotheses.

Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering (Automotive, Electrical, Mechatronics, Computer Science, Controls).
Experience with ADAS functions and related sensors (camera, radar, lidar, ultrasonics).
Strong knowledge of driving regulations and assessment protocols (Euro NCAP, UNECE, NHTSA desirable).
Proficiency in data analysis tools (Python, Matlab), logging tools (CANoe, CANalyzer), and vehicle diagnostic systems.
Hands-on experience with ADAS testing on public roads and proving grounds.
Understanding of V-Model, DVP, requirement management, and functional safety (ISO 26262 preferred).
Good communication skills for cross-functional collaboration and reporting.
Knowledge of requirement manages tools (Codebeamer, DOORs, Polarion, etc.).
Driver's license valid for test vehicle operation; proving ground certification is a plus.
