Job Description

Job Description: Accountant Intern (Path to Junior Accountant)

Location: Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

Position: Full-Time Internship (3 months)

Who We Are

Shutta is a fast-growing digital transformation company that uses a data-driven, experimental approach to help clients succeed. Our entire team operates on the principle of Hypothesis-Driven Design (HDD), meaning we are constantly testing, learning, and improving. We prioritize progress over perfection, encourage asking great questions, and value agility, curiosity, and collaboration.

The Opportunity: Launch Your Career in Financial Operations

We are looking for a meticulous, trustworthy, and ambitious individual to join us as an Accountant Intern.

This is not a typical internship where you file papers and make coffee. This is a structured career launchpad designed to train you for a specific future role: Junior Accountant.

Your mission is to learn the financial heartbeat of a fast-growing digital transformation company from the inside out. Under the direct mentorship of our Operations Coordinator and CEO, you will master our financial systems, learn how to manage cash flow data, and act as the bridge to our external accounting partners. We want people to prepare accounting reports that are actually useful to run the business, not just to tick the box that we did the right thing with the tax man

The Goal: We are looking for someone who wants to grow with us. If you demonstrate precision, integrity, and the ability to execute with excellence during this internship, our goal is to transition you into a full-time Junior Accountant position.

What You'll Do

Pillar I: Financial Operations Support

  • Draft Invoices: Support the billing process by preparing client invoices using Shutta's Invoice Generator, ensuring all details (dates, amounts, tax codes) match the signed contracts exactly.
  • Payment Monitoring: Assist in tracking sent invoices and monitoring payment statuses, flagging any overdue accounts to your manager for follow-up.
  • Invoice Logging: Log all incoming vendor invoices and freelancer payment requests immediately upon receipt to ensure accurate records.
  • Payment Preparation: Prepare payment orders (bank transfers) for the CEO to review and authorize.
  • Cash Flow Data Entry: Access and update the company cash flow statement with actual inflows and outflows on a daily/weekly basis to keep data real-time.
  • Reconciliation: Perform the initial reconciliation of bank statements against our internal cash flow records, identifying and flagging any discrepancies for management review.

Pillar II: Payroll & Administrative Assistance

  • Payroll Data Collection: Support the monthly payroll process by collecting and verifying timesheets and leave records (Annual Leave, Sick Leave) to ensure the data is complete before the final calculation.
  • Expense Review: Perform the first review of team expense submissions, ensuring they comply with company policy and that valid receipts are attached before passing them for final approval.
  • Compliance Organization: Maintain our physical and digital filing systems for tax, social security, and labor contracts, ensuring we are always audit-ready.

Pillar III: External Reporting & Documentation

  • The Accounting Bridge: Prepare and organize the monthly data package (invoices, receipts, bank statements) for our external accounting partners (e.g., Fidinam), ensuring the data is clean and formatted correctly.
  • Monthly Financial Reporting: Assist in consolidating data from internal tracking sheets to draft the monthly financial report. You will ensure the draft is ready by the 5th of every month for the Operations Coordinator and CEO to review.
  • Client Contracts: Draft contracts and Statements of Work (SOW) for new clients using our standard templates for management signature.
What We're Looking For: Precision & Potential

We are hiring for potential, integrity, and cultural fit above all. The ideal candidate will have:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Recent graduate or final-year student in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
  • High proficiency in Google Sheets/Excel (comfortable with formulas and data organization).
  • Extreme Attention to Detail: You take pride in catching typos and ensuring numbers balance perfectly.
  • High Integrity: You understand the sensitivity of financial data and can be trusted with confidential information.

Your Mindset (The Shutta Way):

  • A Desire to Learn (High Coachability): You are not afraid to ask questions to ensure you get the numbers right. You see feedback as the fastest way to grow.
  • Proactive Curiosity: You don't just enter data; you notice if a process is slow or confusing and suggest a better way to do it (e.g., Can we improve this invoice template).
  • Reliability: You understand that in finance, deadlines (like the 5th of the month) matter. You deliver what you promise, on time.
Why Join Shutta
  • A Clear Career Path: We have a defined plan for this role to evolve into a full-time Junior Accountant position based on performance.
  • Be Mentored: You will work directly with the Operations Coordinator and CEO, gaining exposure to how a business is actually run.
  • Real Responsibility: You will be handling real financial data and contributing to the company's operational health from Day 1.
  • Working Hours: 9am - 5pm (Monday - Thursday) & 9am-13pm (Friday) & 13pm - 16pm (Friday - WFH if any)
  • Paid Team Lunch on Friday
