Title: Senior Software Engineer (Backend Node.js)

The Senior Software Engineer is part of DAZN's Core Streaming Backend Services team in Hyderabad, responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining backend services while taking full end-to-end ownership.
This role ensures high-quality implementation, applies engineering best practices, and contributes to scalable, resilient, and high-performance backend systems powering DAZN's global OTT streaming platform. By combining strong technical expertise with effective collaboration, the Senior Software Engineer ensures reliable and efficient delivery of streaming services across multiple markets.

Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend microservices using Node.js, TypeScript, and AWS. Take end-to-end ownership.
- Write clean, maintainable, and testable code following engineering best practices
- Drive / Participate in design discussions, design reviews, and code reviews to ensure high-quality solutions.
- Strong expertise in event driven architecture and micro-services.
- Build and maintain integrations with AWS services and third-party systems
- Ensure backend services are resilient, performant, secure, and scalable across multiple regions.
- Collaborate with DevOps and SRE teams for deployments, monitoring, and infrastructure automation
- Apply solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and design patterns to solve complex problems
- Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders to align on product and technical goals.
- Guide and mentor junior engineers, sharing knowledge and best practices.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise:
- Required Experience:
- 4–7 years of hands-on backend development experience in product-driven environments.
- Hands-on experience building and scaling distributed, event driven systems.
- Hands-on experience working with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (ECS/Kubernetes).
- Experience in building & maintaining CI/CD pipelines, preferably using GitHub Actions or equivalent.
- Hands-on experience with Terraform or similar IaC tools.
- Hands-on experience using AI coding assistants such as GitHub Copilot, Claude or equivalent in day-to-day development workflows.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum teams
- Technical Skills:
- Strong expertise in Node.js, TypeScript, and JavaScript.
- Strong expertise in event-driven architecture and microservices. Solid understanding of software design patterns, data structures, and algorithms.
- Experience working with SQL (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL), NoSQL databases (e.g., DynamoDB, MongoDB) and Caching (Redis) Solid experience with services, including, but not limited to SQS, SNS, ECS, S3, Lambda, Route 53, DynamoDB, Kafka etc. Exposure to observability tools (CloudWatch, Grafana, or any other observability tool).
- Hands on experience writing unit tests and integration tests and with test frameworks.
- Experience with API documentations tools like Swagger.
- Ability to write effective prompts for code generation, refactoring, debugging, test creation, and documentation tasks.
- Strong judgment in reviewing and validating AI-generated code identifying hallucinations, security vulnerabilities, logic errors, and architectural misalignments before integration.
- Familiarity with agentic and multi-step development workflows to automate repetitive engineering tasks such as scaffolding, boilerplate generation, and test coverage.
- Clear understanding of the limitations, risks, and responsible usage of AI tools in a production engineering environment

Education:
Bachelor's degree in computer science & engineering or equivalent discipline (minimum requirement)
