Role Summary

The APAC Energy Senior Underwriter supports the execution of underwriting strategy and contributes to overall portfolio performance. It is responsible for delivering profitable growth through disciplined underwriting, robust risk assessment, and consistent application of underwriting guidelines. The role also involves managing key broker and client relationships, contributing to portfolio quality and sustainability, and ensuring alignment with local, regional, and global underwriting standards and objectives.

This role reports to the Head of Energy, APAC based in Singapore.

Responsibilities include:

• Serves as APAC Senior Energy Underwriter, supporting the Head of Energy, APAC in expanding the downstream & power energy portfolio across the region through submission review, risk assessment, and underwriting analysis.
• Tailor insurance policies using technical knowledge to meet internal appetite and work with our brokers and clients to offer specific solutions to meet client needs.
• Stay current with industry trends, market conditions, and emerging risks within the energy sector to make informed underwriting decisions.
• Manage and optimize the performance of the energy portfolio by optimizing risk selection, pricing and exposure management.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, brokers and other industry stakeholders, providing exceptional customer service and guidance throughout the process
• Collaborate with Claims and other key internal stakeholders to ensure a seamless claims process and assist in resolution of complex claims where required
• Contribute to the development and enhancement of products in line with overall business strategy and underwriting guidelines.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal underwriting guidelines and contribute to the overall risk management strategy of the organization.

Desired Skills & Experience

• University graduate in related disciplines.
• 10 years underwriting experience in Energy Underwriting, downstream / power / renewables.
• Self-starter with initiative to solve problem and make decisions.
• Excellent analytical and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a pressured environment
• Appetite and hunger to learn and grow and go the extra mile.
• Eye for detail and ability to organize efficiently
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
