Job Summary
The Incumbent will support the Group's regional business development, strategic partnership, and project assessment initiatives, with a focus on banking, financial technology, and digital transformation opportunities. Working under the guidance of management and senior team members, the role will conduct research, business and operational analysis, market intelligence gathering, stakeholder coordination, and project assessment activities. The incumbent will assist in evaluating business opportunities, preparing analytical reports, and coordinating with Group companies, business partners, and prospective clients across the region to support the Group's strategic growth objectives.
The incumbent will work closely with and report regularly to the Japan Headquarters on regional initiatives and strategic opportunities. The role requires regular engagement with senior management, Group companies, and stakeholders across the Group's target markets, including Japan's banking and financial services sector, to facilitate information gathering, analysis, and collaboration in support of the Group's business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Group's regional business development and strategic initiatives through preliminary assessment of business opportunities, preparation of analytical findings, and coordination of evaluation activities in the banking, financial services, and financial technology sectors.
- Engage with prospective clients, business partners, and Group companies to understand business objectives, operational needs, and collaboration opportunities.
- Assist in conducting business process reviews, requirements-gathering sessions, and operational assessments to support feasibility evaluation of potential projects and partnerships.
- Document current-state business processes, workflows, operational requirements, and discussion outcomes, and prepare structured analysis reports for management review.
- Support the analysis of business, functional, and non-functional requirements to identify gaps, risks, dependencies, and improvement opportunities.
- Coordinate discussions and information exchange between prospective clients and relevant Group entities on digital banking, core banking, and financial technology initiatives.
- Support the preparation of business proposals, feasibility studies, presentation materials, and management reports for internal decision-making.
- Conduct market research, competitor analysis, and industry intelligence gathering to support the Group's strategic planning and regional expansion initiatives.
- Support the evaluation of solution proposals, proof-of-concept activities, technology assessments, and business cases conducted by Group companies and partners. Assist in the planning, development, and delivery of client presentations, solution positioning, and business pitches to prospective clients and strategic partners.
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to support project assessment, partnership discussions, and business development initiatives.
- Prepare research findings, management reports, and updates for Headquarters and senior management on business opportunities, project assessments, and stakeholder engagement activities.
- Track and maintain records of ongoing opportunities, stakeholder engagements, and project evaluation activities for management reporting.
- Undertake any other advisory, analytical, or coordination tasks as assigned by management to support the Group's strategic objectives.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- At least 5 years of relevant experience in consulting, project management, application delivery support, business analysis, business development, banking technology, or financial services.
- Experience in core banking systems, digital banking platforms, lending systems, payment systems, Banking-as-a-Service (BaaS), or other financial technology solutions.
- Experience in business requirements gathering, business process analysis, solution assessment, and stakeholder management.
- Ability to engage with both business and technical stakeholders and translate business requirements into practical analysis and recommendations.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Experience coordinating cross-functional teams, vendors, consultants, and project stakeholders in a regional or multinational environment.
- Excellent presentation, report writing, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Experience working with banks, financial institutions, or banking technology providers, preferably with exposure to banking operations, core banking systems, and financial services practices across regional markets, including Japan. Practical experience in the development, implementation, enhancement, or support of IT systems within Japan's banking and financial services sector will be highly advantageous.
- Good understanding of banking industry practices and banking-related IT systems, with exposure to the Japanese banking market, including technology architecture, operational processes, and digital transformation initiatives. Ability to analyse, compare, and assess differences between Japan-market requirements and regional market requirements.
- Ability to bridge business and operational requirements between Headquarters, regional entities, and market stakeholders, including those in Japan, and provide recommendations that align with both Group objectives and local market needs.
- Experience in research, market intelligence, project coordination, stakeholder support, or strategy support functions would be advantageous.
- Excellent command of spoken and written Japanese and English to review business and technical documentation, and to support regular communication with Headquarters, Group companies, and business partners in Japan and other international markets.
