KYC Analyst

About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical KYC Analyst to support customer due diligence (CDD), Know Your Customer (KYC), sanctions screening, and financial crime compliance activities. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting customer onboarding reviews, periodic reviews, enhanced due diligence (EDD), and sanctions screening investigations to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.

This role plays a critical part in protecting the organization from financial crime risks, including money laundering, terrorist financing, sanctions violations, and reputational risks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform KYC reviews for new and existing customers, including Customer Due Diligence (CDD), Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD), and periodic reviews.

  • Conduct customer identification and verification in accordance with regulatory requirements and internal compliance standards.

  • Review and investigate sanctions screening alerts, adverse media findings, politically exposed person (PEP) matches, and other financial crime-related alerts.

  • Analyze customer profiles, ownership structures, source of wealth, source of funds, and business activities to assess potential risks.

  • Assess and resolve sanctions, AML, and financial crime alerts by distinguishing true matches from false positives through detailed investigation and research.

  • Escalate high-risk customers, suspicious activities, sanctions concerns, or unusual findings to Compliance management for further review.

  • Gather information from internal systems, commercial databases, public sources, and business stakeholders to support investigations and risk assessments.

  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive case documentation, investigation records, and audit trails.

  • Support ongoing customer monitoring activities and remediation projects.

  • Ensure all reviews are completed within established service level agreements (SLAs) and regulatory timelines.

  • Assist with regulatory audits, internal reviews, compliance testing, and special projects as required.

  • Partner with internal stakeholders to provide guidance on KYC requirements, customer risk ratings, and compliance best practices.

  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and regulatory compliance.

  • Perform additional duties and projects as assigned.

Requirements

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Banking, Law, Risk Management, Compliance, or a related discipline.

  • Minimum 2-5 years of experience in KYC, AML, Financial Crime Compliance, Customer Due Diligence, or related compliance functions.

  • Experience conducting customer onboarding, periodic reviews, remediation exercises, and enhanced due diligence investigations.

  • Experience reviewing complex ownership structures, beneficial ownership information, and high-risk customer profiles.

  • Prior experience within banking, financial services, fintech, multinational corporations, or regulated industries is preferred.

Technical Knowledge

  • Strong understanding of KYC, AML, CDD, EDD, sanctions screening, and financial crime compliance requirements.

  • Familiarity with global sanctions programs, including OFAC, UN, EU, and other international sanctions frameworks.

  • Knowledge of AML regulations, financial crime risks, terrorist financing controls, and regulatory expectations.

  • Experience using compliance screening tools such as World-Check, Refinitiv, LexisNexis, FircoSoft, Dow Jones Risk & Compliance, Actimize, or equivalent platforms.

  • Experience conducting adverse media reviews, sanctions screening analysis, and customer risk assessments.

  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and make risk-based decisions.

  • Strong stakeholder management and interpersonal skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional certifications such as CAMS, ACAMS, ICA, CFCS, or equivalent compliance certifications.

  • Experience supporting global KYC, AML, sanctions, or financial crime compliance programs.

  • Exposure to regulatory audits, remediation projects, and customer lifecycle management processes.
