Purpose of Position

  • To drive growth of the Training business in the country/sector and provide Cluster or Sector best practice support.
  • To deploy and deliver BSI training best practice in Business Management, Marketing, Sales
  • To uphold standards of excellence in the customer experience as described in the BSI Training Brand Journey

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
  • Ownership of the training business plan including:
    • Growth of the training business through implementation of the BSI Training best practice management structure, ensuring effective and timely recruitment and development of the key roles
    • Planning and execution of annual budget, including public, in-house and key client projects to deliver or exceed revenue, profit and contribution targets
    • Forward planning and execution of scheduled events to BSI Training best practice KPIs
  • Influence or directly manage marketing and sales activity to plan, execute optimal lead generation, fully understand and manage activity ratios to meet and exceed annual targets
  • Work with Assessment, Sales and Entropy business stream to support and drive training leads from Assessment and Sales client visits
  • Ensure that all contractual relationships with key suppliers are maintained and continually reviewed in the interests of BSI and its customers.
  • Coaching and development in line with the business talent management strategy including ongoing succession planning.
  • Deliver public training courses and in-house training solutions to the BSI standards of excellence, in order to develop knowledge and skills

Commercial Awareness
  • Can clearly outline to Clients, Suppliers, and Key Stakeholders why BSI is the preferred partner and can provide clear examples of proven value
  • Able to review with Clients the value of the portfolio of BSI products and services as part of a long-term partnership
  • Able to share detailed Client information with BSI Sales Teams in order to formulate Client Strategy and guide and maintains Client relationship with Sales
  • Clearly understand and manage activities to deliver the revenue, gross profit, and contribution targets

Customer Focus
  • Has the ability to be viewed by the customer as a trusted advisor and guide customers to make strategic decisions that balance priorities and outcomes
  • Able to demonstrate an in-depth understanding of the market and industries in which customers operate
  • Can be recognized by the customer and competitors as delivering quality and reliability through the activities and outputs of their people

Operational Management
  • Able to understand how the P&L relates to the forward plan and can communicate the vision, strategy and values and how it translates to an optimal delivery plan based on the experience of customer's needs, commercial and quality KPIs
  • Able to profile team performance to identify individual motivational needs and take action to drive performance
  • Can identify longer-term development and resource requirements to drive excellence in performance
  • Able to monitor and empower the team to deliver on KPIs, resolve issues and ensure required levels of performance meets BSI's standards of excellence

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Management or any related discipline
  • Experience in running a commercial business unit, including P&L responsibility, preferably in commercial events/training publishing or related
  • Commercial understanding and experience of working with the marketing function, including an appreciation of campaign planning and execution through multiple channels
  • Commercial understanding and experience of the sales function, preferably both telesales and field sales
  • Good influencing / transverse management skills
  • Good verbal and written communication skills and an eye for detail
  • Be self-motivated, flexible, and have excellent time management/planning skills
  • Able to work under pressure
  • Willing to travel on business intensively
  • An enthusiastic and committed team player
  • Well presented with good public speaking
  • Business development skills will be considered advantageous
