  • Report to: Head of Analysis Center
  • Design experiments to test theories and execute with the assistance of R&D scientists and engineers.
  • Select, characterize, and validate materials and cell components (cathode, anode, electrolytes, separator, etc.).
  • Plan, develop, and execute Design of Experiments for fabrication and testing of battery cells.
  • Manage laboratory information systems by identifying needs and problems, recommending improvements, training employees, and maintaining security and confidentiality.
  • Plan, and execute applied research experiments involving: Synthesis, modification and characterization of lithium-ion products.
  • Collaborate with and/or supervise other scientists & engineers on joint projects.
  • Documentation of experimental work analysis of data documenting and presenting results.
  • Preparation of written methods and SOPs.
  • Operation, maintenance and cleaning of laboratory facility & analytical equipment.
  • Support R&D and QC.

  • Master (or BS with significant experience) in a relevant science (e.g. Chemistry, Physics, Metallurgy, Material Science, Electrical engineering, etc)
  • 5+ years of professional or industrial research experience.
  • Proficient in the use of methods of morphological analysis, such as SEM/FIB, Computed Tomography(CT) and its sample preparation such as Ar-plasma cross-sectioning polisher is essential.
  • Hands-on experience in state-of-the-art analytical tools, especially for Cryo-3D FIB and Nano CT, and modeling/simulation with the 3D data.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and execute independent and collaborative research projects.
  • Goal-oriented, hands-on and innovative approach to problem-solving.
  • She/he will be required to develop additional competencies, apply practical skills and knowledge to solving a variety of applied scientific and technical problems.
  • Knowledge and experience of characterization techniques for lithium-ion batteries are a plus.
