The candidate will be the key member of a team of experienced designers responsible for board and system level reference platforms and silicon characterization boards for Marvell best in class high speed communication Ser-des products.
The candidate will be responsible for design/development and layout of PCBs from concept to pre-production, collect design requirements from IC and package engineering teams, work closely with external suppliers, perform pre-layout analysis and simulations, provide technical guidance and routing constraints to layout engineers based on simulation results. Candidate must be able to analyze results from team members and guide development. Candidate must have a good knowledge of microelectronics PCB fabrication process, PCB assembly and reflow processes.
Detailed responsibilities include:
Working closely with SoC and package engineering teams to collect design requirements, analyze the requirements to identify key concerns and figure out design approach. Working closely internal hardware design team and external suppliers (fab house, assembly house, RF component like connector/cable/socket vendors) to select component, select fab house, assembly house, arm to satisfy validation need and save cost. PCB stack up design, high speed traces design specification and layout guideline.
Schematic design, pre-layout analysis and simulations, provide technical guidance and routing constraints to layout engineers based on simulation results. The engineer primarily will work on physical implementation of critical high-speed links from chip package to RF connector on PCB using Allegro, running 3D field solver extractions in HFSS, PDN analysis, time-domain ADS simulations and channel analysis, analyze results from team members and guide development.
Provide CAD drawing to internal/external partners to support related designs, help engineers to identify and resolve mechanical design issues
Bachelor's/Master's degree in Electrical engineering, Electronicsand Communication engineering, Computer engineering, with emphasis on Transmission line EM and microwave theory, 5-8 years of industry experience. Proficiency in Orcad schematic capture and Allegro PCB layout. Experience with via and stack-up optimization techniques for high speed channels. Power plane design, modeling and analysis using Power-SI or SI-wave. Experience in dealing with PCB fab house and Assembly vendors. Knowledgeable with High Speed PCB materials, material vendors, PCB fabrication process and Assembly/Reflow processes. Good understanding of high-speed probing and measurements techniques and correlation of simulation results with measurements. Knowledge of EM, Transmission line theory fundamentals.
