Work you will do
USAID V-LEEP II is helping Vietnam continue its transition to a clean, secure, and market-based energy sector by increasing the deployment of advanced energy systems, improving energy sector performance, and increasing competition in the energy sector. The project will also support to enhance Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in the Energy Sector in Vietnam, specifically enhancing women's equality in the energy sector in Vietnam.
To meet that demand, Deloitte Consulting is seeking applicants interested in the Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) Specialist/Expert position for the USAID-funded V-LEEP II program, which runs through September 2025.
The successful candidate will coordinate with the V-LEEP II Senior Technical Leadership in managing and providing technical works on gender equity, including designing interventions, that (1) Increase the diversity of the energy sector workforce (2) Increase the recruitment and retention of women into energy sector workplaces and (3) Promote leadership opportunities for women.
Responsibilities include:

  • Lead and provide the necessary support to V-LEEP II Senior Technical Leadership for activities described in the Gender and Development Action Agenda including annual assessment, event coordination, content development, and communications.
  • Provide advice/suggestions to V-LEEP II Senior Technical leadership on all areas of gender equality and female empowerment relevant to V-LEEP II.
  • Research and stay up to date on leading gender quality and female empowerment trends and activities in Vietnam and the Southeast Asia region.
  • Establish partnerships with women's professional societies to realize goals identified in the Gender Development and Action Agenda. Work with V-LEEP II Senior Technical leadership to validate baseline indicators and targets.
  • Ensure all V-LEEP II's activities are equally beneficial to all genders and capitalize on opportunities to correct gender imbalances wherever possible.
  • Support the collection and analysis of gender disaggregated data as necessary for monitoring against V-LEEP II's Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning indicators.
  • Organize leadership forums and networking events.
  • Perform other related tasks assigned by V-LEEP II's management or designee as may be required to contribute to the achievement of V-LEEP II goals and objectives.

Enough about us, let's talk about you
If you are someone with:
  • Degree in international development, gender studies, behavioral economics, sociology, or other related field required (additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of advanced degree)
  • Five years or more of experience in a relevant field
  • Demonstrated experience and technical knowledge in GESI required
  • Experience in the energy sector is preferred
  • Knowledge of qualitative research methods and standards, with field research experience strongly desired
  • Experience conducting GESI trainings preferred
  • Experience with USAID or another donor programming
  • Strong interpersonal and team skills, with ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently.
  • Ability and willingness to travel
  • Fluent in written and spoken English

This is a local Vietnamese position based in the V-LEEP II project office in Hanoi, Vietnam. Limited domestic travel may be expected as required by project activities. Work and travel will be in compliance with the policies and procedures of the Vietnamese and US governments, Deloitte Consulting, and the V-LEEP II project office.
