Purpose

This position is responsible for smooth real time operations at KE Load Dispatch Centre; ensures every equipment is operated within tolerable limits while ensuring power quality; manages transmission network outages; observe compliance to grid code, WITH the objective to achieve optimal power flows, system security & network stability WITHIN the limits of Organizations policies and SOPs, regulatory & statutory framework and directions/guidelines from the Shift In charge..

Education

B.E Electrical (14 Years Experience as Real time operation Engineer & load dispatching in vertically integrated Power Utility)

Knowledge

Real Time Operating Procedures.

Power System Stability & Reliability

Optimal Power System Load Management

Data Management.

HSEQ & House keeping

NEPRA Violation limits

Transmission & Distribution Cross Functional Knowledge.

Monitoring & control of state of the art SCADA system.

Experience

Area Of Responsibilities

  • NETWORK MANAGEMENT (40%)
  • To serve system demand while keeping all network equipment's within their operational limits, such that system reliability factors (SAIFI, SAIDI, CAIDI) are improved & tripping due to O/L doesn't exceed 10% of the total trips.
  • Monitoring, Control & Supervision thru SCADA system for outage planning & Switching operations for arrangement of planned shutdowns.
  • Responsible for operating the entire transmission network as safely and reliably as possible while adhering to SOPs.
  • Arranges Planned / forced shutdown of Transmission lines / Transformers.
  • Monitors system parameters (Frequency, Voltages, loadings etc.), alarms and equipment status & takes corrective measures accordingly.
  • Ensures safety compliance while carrying out EHT operations at Grid stations.
  • Review & updates network isolations, when required, in consultation to Shift In charge (DGM).
  • Coordinate with maintenance teams and concerned HT operation while arranging planned / forced shutdowns.
  • Coordinates with NPCC for tie line load management & take remedial action to prevent major breakdowns in case of De-synchronization from 500kV network.
  • Manage network loadings with LS in case of any Tripping/Shutdown.

Area of Responsibility Continued

SYSTEM RELIABILITY & SECURITY (30%)

  • Management of 100% outages while ensuring network stability.
  • To ensure 100% compliance of all applicable NEPRA rules, regulations, standards and codes for maintaining power quality under normal operating conditions.
  • Compliance with Contractual Obligations.
  • Management of active & reactive power to address frequency & voltage instability in emergent conditions.
  • DISCREPANCY & DATA MANAGEMENT (20%)
  • Ensure 100% reporting of discrepancies to concerned department at adopted network & subsequent follow up for resolution to improve functionality.
  • Supervises & ensures timely creation of SAP tripping notification.
  • Supervises & ensures completion of daily reports consisting of all shutdowns/tripping & LS logging with appropriate details.
  • COMMUNICATION (10%)
  • Issuance & closure of Shutdown work permits to the requesting/availing department during outages.
  • Notifying higher up's via email during Planned/Forced outage
